Passion and danger collide in the latest contemporary romance featuring the Lawless siblings—from New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake.

When Drew Lawless discovers a fatal flaw in his plan to avenge his parents’ deaths, he turns to the one woman he promised he wouldn't touch. He offers her a deal, one that will bring her into his investigation, his life, and his bed.

Investigative reporter Shelby Gates never dreamed how twisted the case would become—or how fascinated she would be with Drew. Every day they spend together binds them. And every night brings her closer to realizing he might be the man for her.

As Drew's feelings for Shelby grow, so does the danger. From the streets of Dallas to Austin’s high-tech business world, Drew and Shelby play a game begun twenty years before—a game they will win, or die trying.

MY REVIEW

Finally! Drew Lawless isn't just your average hot nerd who build his own company, 4L. I always has soft spot for Drew since his first appearance. He started to plot revenge for his familly. But eventually both his brothers, Riley and Bran met their soulmate on the journey. In the end of Satisfaction, Drew was shocked to found the real culprit. He decided to hide the fact from his family and getting his own revenge.

Drew isn't alone. He's accompanied by his trusted adviser/father figure, Bill Hatchard. Also he bring the fiery red-head crime reporter, Shelby Gates. Acting as a couple wouldn't be a problem since both of them are really attracted to each other. Shelby couldn't fake her feeling towards Drew and she decided to clear Lawless name with some new interesting facts.

I always has soft spot for hot nerd. I kinda liked him at first. He's brilliant and tech god also super HOT (according to some people). Even Shelby easily fallen for him. But Drew is just a plain asshole. His on-off attitude really frustrated me. He is like porcupine; look-but-do-not-touch. It's hard to read his mood. I know he has really bad childhood also trust issue.

... I want to be the reason you need, Shelby. I want to be the only one you want. I’m willing to take the risk that you’ll use me for the time we’re together because I want you that badly. So kiss me because you want to. Kiss me because it’s part of our cover. I don’t care why as long as you kiss me.”

Shelby is really strong woman and patiently deal with Drew's bipolar attitude. I kinda admired her. The start was really promising. They're moving on the case that I found it has more depth than before. Slowly scratch the surface. Then, it moves slowly with the romance between Drew and Shelby. Somehow when Drew in romance mode, he turns into super cheese. I liked the chemistry and it feels real. But sometimes Drew ruined the moment.

She’d never had a man who could make her do the things he did. She’d thrown off all norms, all societal niceties. They didn’t matter because Drew Lawless was such a brooding hottie that her panties melted off and her body spread wide the minute she knew he needed her.

The new facts that Shelby found was really interesting and almost blindsided me. Ms Blake is never ceases to amaze me with surprises and twists. I think the story itself is great and nicely done. Then, it stretched into some family drama.

Unfortunately, my issues is mainly with Drew and Shelby. As lovely as they're together, I didn't feel the heat or passion with their love. They're just too cool-as-a-cucumber. Maybe not the best, because I feel like Drew is the damsel in distress in this story and Shelby is the prince. He's too busy with his own feeling (reminds me of Kash Kamdar from Arranged in M&M series). Quite disappointing, but overall a great read from Lexi Blake.

I’ll always save you, Andrew Lawless. You are the be-all, end-all of my life, and I won’t ever leave you. When you’re ready, your future is here. I love you.”
